Just some interesting things that happened in the past week... or two :) - I won a book at one of those events where you walk around a horse-shoe of tables that contain a person or two, some brochures, a little activity, and free candy and pens.  It was an all around healthful living informational ditty, presenting on campus support centers/programs/etc.  The book is called The Essence of Health by Dr. Craig Hassed.  It seems like a pretty basic read, but if I would have picked to win anything, a book would have definitely been at the top of my list... So, cool beans! - I found a new soup recipe online and made it Monday: Hearty Kale, Quinoa, and Lentil Soup.  It is nice and hearty with lovely spices, but maybe I would add some vegetable broth (sodium) to enhance the flavors a bit.  Here is the recipe if you are interested...  http://recipesfrom4everykitchen.blogspot.ca/2012/10/hearty-kale-lentil-quinoa-soup.html How mine turned out... - I am s...

I was unable to see the beak clearly, but the coloration was the same.  A crimson rosella ( Platycercus elegans )?  I came across this photo on a neat facebook page:  https://www.facebook.com/TowerHillAndWarrnamboolFauna Although many of the birds sound like they are in pain around here, some have intriguing plumage.  Here is another that frequents my "backyard"... These guys are all over the place (below), along with another black and white species.  Walking back from the store, a couple days ago, I am almost positive one swooped a couple of times at my head... I heard the wings a couple inches behind and let out a "woa!" to turn around and see him fly up to lit upon a lamp pole.  Usually they are waddling around in the grass, minding their own business.  Magpie ( C...
